IVSedation
About IV Sedation
Part of a positive dental experience is experiencing relaxation and total comfort during your visits. MINT dentistry in Conroe, TX is able to offer IV (intravenous) sedation to help our patients during dental surgery. IV sedation is typically only used during invasive or longer oral surgeries, like implant or extraction surgery. This sedation dentistry method uses anti-anxiety medication, delivered directly into your bloodstream. The medication can keep you calm and relaxed during oral surgery. Although you will remain awake during the procedure, the relaxation may make you feel like you were sleeping. Your levels of medication administered will be closely watched during your treatment to make sure you are comfortable, as well as safe. If you need IV sedation, your team of MINT dentistry professionals will discuss the process during your consultation.
Best Candidates
IV sedation is recommended for patients getting oral surgery. Before recommending IV sedation, your board-certified MINT dentist will review what medications you are taking and if you have a current or previous medical condition. Your team will also explain the other sedation dentistry options we offer before choosing the best method for your needs and goals. Your MINT dentistry team is dedicated to helping you achieve the sexy teeth you desire while ensuring your total comfort and optimal health in the process.

What to Expect
To begin your visit, we will invite you to lay back on a massaging treatment chair in one of our well-equipped procedure rooms. We will provide you with a pair of Beats headphones so you can listen to music and swanky MINT dentistry sunglasses. Once you're ready, we will carefully insert the small needle into a vein in your arm and the anti-anxiety medicine will be administered. You will begin to feel relaxed quickly. Once the sedation is in full effect, your team will begin to perform your oral surgery. Once the procedure is completely finished, the IV will be removed and you should begin to wake up.
Treatment Aftercare
You should not drive for at least 24 hours after your appointment. You should plan to have a responsible adult take you home. After you get home, you should rest and drink lots of water as most patients feel sleepy the remainder of the day. In some cases, you could become nauseous or have some memory loss. These side effects are normal and typically disappear in a day or two. IV sedation does not usually cause an adverse reaction; however, if you have questions, concerns, or lasting symptoms, you should contact us.
The MINT Commitment
IV sedation may or may not be covered by your dental insurance. Prior to receiving sedation, our office will contact your insurance provider to understand how much of your costs will be covered. MINT dentistry also offers financial planning and payment options. We believe that undergoing dental procedures should be a positive experience. If you are concerned about the cost of sedation, ask for more information on the MINT Discount Plan to help make your care more affordable.
